The Art of Movement

This past Sunday June 3rd, Body Balance Institute participated in the Art of Movement event at J Johnson Gallery. We helped to raise $1,300 over the weekend for the Cummer Musuem's VSA Festival. This organization provides arts and education opportunities for people with disabilities and increases art access for all! The event was a blast and we loved being a part of it all!

Artist Tony Orrico, a dancer and choreographer creates his art with his body on canvas.  Check out this Video to see this amazing artist in action. Orrico is a former member of Trisha Brown Dance Company as well as Shen Wei Dance Arts. He was chosen as one of the performers that re-performed Marina Abramovic's work in her retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Barbara Sorensen, was the other artist featured in the gallery this past weekend. Her sculptures reflect literal landscapes explored in her travels, as she has incorporated new work with metals to create sculptures that dance along the walls of the gallery. To read more about this artist check out the article here!

The art in the gallery reflected the movements of the class which made for a perfect combination of art and movement.
